Intermediate Italian I

This course is the first half of the two-semester intermediate sequence (111 and 112) and is designed to increase students┐ confidence and ability to read, write, speak and understand the language. Course materials allow students to explore culturally relevant topics and to develop cross-cultural skills through the exploration of analogies and differences between their native culture and the Italian world, thus building a bridge of cultural and linguistic awareness. Language skills are strengthened through oral, written, aural and reading activities, which provide practice of linguistic forms and challenge the student┐s creative and interpretative skills. Class is conducted entirely in Italian.

Essential Capabilities: Intercultural Literacy, Speaking
This course offers students a variety of opportunities to develop their ability to speak and understand Italian, while exploring similarities and differences between their native culture and the Italian world.
