This course examines architecture and, to a lesser extent, sculpture and painting of the Christian monastic tradition with special focus on such topics as monastic life, ritual, and industry.

Essential Capabilities: Logical Reasoning
To think historically is to reason deductively from substantiated premises. Understanding the monastic past requires students to assess and interpret data to construct compelling arguments and to draw logical references from them.
