This course is a synthesis of fundamentals of design principles and introduction to design vocabulary, process methodologies and craft. Emphasis is placed on developing the students' ability to examine the relationship between production (the process of creating things) and expression (the conveying of ideas and meaning) involved in the making of architecture. The intent of the course is to develop the students' awareness and understanding of the built environment as a result of the investigations, observations, and inquiries generated in the studio.
