This course is an introduction to the practice and art of printmaking. Through technical instruction and personal exploration, students learn the rudiments of relief and intaglio printmaking media. Students learn to develop a print through a series of proofs with critical consideration as an important input in this progression from idea sketch to final edition. Extensive use is made of the Davison Art Center print collection. |

Prerequisites: Drawing I or equivalent.
Permission of instructor approval will be granted through the Electronic Portfolio but only after interviews. Interviews will be held Tuesday, April 9 between 5pm and 8pm in AWKS007. Students should bring a portfolio of at least eight drawings; four in class drawings (figure drawing or still life) and four longer sustained drawings. In addition to the drawings, work in painting and/or photography can be included in the portfolio. Please submit an electronic request before your interview through the online registration system. Attendance of first class required. If you do not attend the first class you may be dropped. |
