An introduction to the study of animal behavior, this course will examine the factors that control the behavior of vertebrates and invertebrates within evolutionary, developmental, and physiological contexts. All animals face similar challenges, and we will examine the common and sometimes unique behavioral strategies used to meet these challenges. Throughout the course, you will integrate knowledge across diverse topics in biology as you practice thinking like an animal behavior scientist. Specific topics include navigation, social behavior, parental care, mating strategies, and communication. |
