The course begins with an overview of plant evolutionary history, then covers the basic structure and function of the plant body and the life cycle and ecological diversity of plants in natural habitats. Special events include a field trip to the Smith College botanical garden, a Hands-On Day for working with living speciments, and a special guest lecture by a local plant biologist. |
