Presentation and active discussion of current research articles in evolutionary biology. Each semester the class will choose one theme within evolutionary biology to be the focus of discussion. Themes from recent semesters have included coevolution, speciation, phylogenetic approaches for investigating natural selection, the role of competition in evolution, evolution of host-parasite relationships, and the evolution of behavior. Articles for discussion generally come from the journals EVOLUTION, AMERICAN NATURALIST, GENETICS, SCIENCE, and NATURE. |

Examinations and Assignments:
Participation in discussions about journal articles presented. Each student will present and lead discussion on one journal article during the semester. |

Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation.

Also, if you have not previously taken this course, please indicate by email to any of the instructors the strength of your background in evolutionary biology and the extent of your interest in engaging in discussions of the literature of evolutionary biology. |
