CHEM 142 is the second half of a standard introductory course in general chemistry, intended for science majors and appropriate for premedical studies. Proficiency in algebra is required. Prior completion of a high school chemistry course is typical, but not required. Topics covered will include solutions and aqueous reactions; kinetics; equilibrium; acids and bases; solubility equilibria; thermodynamics; electrochemistry; and nuclear chemistry. |

Examinations and Assignments:
Four exams, graded homework, plus a comprehensive final exam. Four exams will be administered on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm and are scheduled for February 14th, March 6th, April 17th and May 8th. Note that these exam dates may change based on content coverage. A comprehensive final exam will be administered during the final exam period. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
All students will need to register for one weekly recitation section during drop/add. These sections will be scheduled on both Mondays and Tuesdays, from 4:25-5:55 p.m. and at 7:10-8:40 p.m |
