Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Placement on this technical level requires recommendation of dance technique teacher the previous semester or evaluation during first class. Performance is not one of the essential capabilities. However, performance in the arts is neither treated as rote repetition, nor as the objective accomplishment of task. Performance combines first, the variable art of interpretation and second, the creative ability to actualize that interpretation in movement. Performance therefore intersects, but is not appropriately encompassed by the categories of "interpretation" or "designing, creating, realizing." Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation. |
