A theoretical and practical course in teaching movement to children and adults, this course will center on dance education as a site for social relevance, justice and action. Through readings, discussion, writing, practice and reflection students will investigate theories of education, theories of dance, and various methods for teaching dance. Practical teaching and service outside of Wesleyan campus is a requirement. While prior dance training is not required, students should simultaneously register for a movement class. Students with an interest in dance, arts, education, or an interest in creative and bodily engagement in learning will find this course directly applicable.
