This class is designed to explore various approaches to dance improvisation. Students will expand movement vocabulary, increase compositional awareness, develop their creative thinking and observational skills, and sharpen their performance presence. Material covered will include improvisation exercises, contact improvisation, structured improvisational forms, development and performance of scores, and exploration of the relationship between movement, sound and music. |

Examinations and Assignments: Written assignments, movement assignments, projects, performance and attendance at dance concerts. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students interested in this course need to meet with the professor before permission of instructor will be granted. Contact the professor via email during the planning period (Oct. 30-Nov. 12) to set an individual appointment. Junior and senior dance majors will be given priority, non majors will be accepted if space is available. |
