This team-taught seminar, required of all East Asian studies majors, aims to introduce prospective majors to a range of the fields and methodologies that comprise East Asian studies at Wesleyan. The material will be organized into several disciplinary and area modules, each contributing to a central theme. |

Examinations and Assignments: One short essay will be assigned per module. Each essay will be critiqued by fellow students, and then re-written. There will also be a longer final essay that will encourage students to draw connections among the modules. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: This course is primarily designed for sophomores who are seriously considering a major in East Asian Studies, and also open to junior and senior East Asian Studies majors who were unable to take the course their sophomore year. |
