This course is an introduction to econometric techniques widely used by economists. This class will meet three times each week: twice with an economics professor, and once with a Quantitative Analysis Center (QAC) instructor. |

Examinations and Assignments:
Frequent problem sets, two midterm examinations, and a final examination |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Following a learning-by-doing approach, the course's lab sessions introduce students to statistical computing. Through a series of hands-on exercises, we learn to work with a variety of data formats and use the programming capabilities of our statistical analysis software (e.g. Stata) to effectively manage and analyze data.
During planning period the Department will not give pre-requisite overrides in order to ensure that students who fully meet the pre-requisites (prior completion of both Econ 301 and Econ 302) have priority access to the course.
However, on the first day of adjustment period the Department will grant pre-requisite overrides to all rising juniors who will have completed either Econ 301 or Econ 302 by the end of the spring 2026 semester. Any student who is given a pre-requisite override is expected to concurrently enroll in the remaining course in fall 2026 as students must complete Econ 301 and Econ 302 by the end of the junior fall. There are no seats for juniors in 301 and 302 in the spring.
All students who want a pre-requisite override are expected to file their requests during planning period as the faculty reviewing these requests may not do so on a timely basis throughout the adjustment period.
Through spring 2026 this class was called Econ 300. Students who previously took Econ 300 cannot take Econ 303.
