Course Cluster: Southern Asia Studies |
This course will introduce literary texts from a variety of formerly colonized nations in what is sometimes called the Third World, such as India, Nigeria, Martinique, Trinidad, and Brazil. Among the issues we will discuss: are we justified in discussing a literary genre called Third World or Postcolonial? What are its attributes if we are so justified? What happens to a text from the Third World when it is read within the First World? |
