Film 450 explores the elements of cinematic form and style through filmmaking exercises. The focus of this introduce concepts of narrative form, visual audio design in order to create coherent and emotionally engaging experiences for an audience. In other words: visual storytelling. Each exercise will challenge students to address both aesthetic and practical decisions in taking an idea from concept to the screen. This section provides technical training and practical experience in the 16mm film format, including lighting, cinematography, and editing. No assignments will have dialogue or synchronous sound recording. However, we will use this sound restriction to deepen our understanding of visual storytelling.
