This multimedia course combines video, audio, and print to teach French language and culture as complementary facets of a single reality. It puts you in the presence of authentic, unsimplified French and trains you to use it in the dynamic context of actual communication. A complete, carefully sequenced course, it involves you actively in your own learning and emphasizes communicative proficiency--not the study of rules and regulations, but the development of skills, self-expression, and cultural insight. FREN102 is the second semester of the four-semester introductory and intermediate French language sequence. |
Essential Capabilities:
Intercultural Literacy, Speaking Students will compare cultural practices between their own and French and Francophone cultures, as well as develop their speaking skills in French at the novice level.

Examinations and Assignments: Weekly writing assignments and quizzes, a final examination. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students are required to attend a one-hour T.A. session each week and are expected to spend at least three hours a week viewing videos and practicing the material. This course is intended for students who have completed FREN101 or have placed into FREN102 through the placement test. Students who have not done so should consult with the professor before pre-registering. STUDENTS WHO HAVE TAKEN OR ARE TAKING FREN101 SHOULD BE AWARE THAT THEY ARE NOT GUARANTEED A PLACE IN FREN102. Students who are not admitted to the course through pre-registration are strongly encouraged to submit an enrollment request and attend the first class. |
