This multimedia course combines film and print to teach French language and culture as complementary facets of a single reality. It puts you in the presence of authentic, unsimplified French and trains you to use it in the dynamic context of actual communication. A complete, carefully sequenced course, it involves you actively in your own learning and emphasizes communicative proficiency--not the study of rules and regulations, but the development of skills, self-expression, and cultural insight. FREN111 is the third semester of the four-semester introductory and intermediate French language sequence. |
Essential Capabilities:
Intercultural Literacy, Speaking Students will compare cultural practices between their own and French and Francophone cultures, as well as develop their speaking skills in French at the intermediate level.

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students are expected to spend three hours a week viewing videos and practicing in the language laboratory. Students are also required to attend one T.A. session a week (one hour). This course is intended for students who have completed FREN102 with a grade of B or better or have placed into FREN111 through the placement test this fall. Students who have not done so should consult with the professor before pre-registering. FORMAT: Laboratory Language Instruction. |
