This course typically follows GRST101 and 102 or GRST105.
Its goal is to continue the development of all the language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students will be introduced to major works of literature as well as nonliterary authentic texts while reviewing German grammar. A video component in the course will enhance students' language skills and expose them to the diversity of German culture via authentic footage from a major German television network. Students who satisfactorily complete this course are eligible for study in Regensburg on the Vanderbilt-Wesleyan-Wheaton Program. |

Intercultural literacy and applied linguistics: Through class activities, assignments and with the use of authentic materials, students will gain an understanding of new cultural concepts and values which will help them develop intercultural literacy.

Examinations and Assignments:
Position papers, compositions and short oral reports related to topics discussed in class will be assigned during the semester. There will be chapter tests, a midterm and a final. |

Successful completion of GRST 101 and 102 or permission of the instructor. Regular attendance, class participation, and completion of homework assignments are essential. |
