The course will examine some ways that scholars have understood the role of religion and history. Readings will reflect a wide variety of theoretical, theological, and disciplinary perspectives.

Essential Capabilities: Writing, Speaking
This course emphasizes argumentative writing and oral debate. Students also research questions tangential to the course's themes and make formal presentations of their findings.
