The primary goal of this course is to enable students to acquire Japanese language proficiency through integrating four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Lessons will cover such topics as Japanese convenience stores, history, traditional craftsmanship, and nature. The class meets three hours per week. |

Examinations and Assignments: There are frequent homework assignments, which include grammar, Kanji and vocabulary exercises, reading comprehension, essay writing and conversation project. Both lesson tests and final examinations are given, and weekly quizzes. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Attendance and active participation in every class and weekly TA session are required. Students who have not taken JAPN217 at Wesleyan are required to take a placement test. |
