Newspaper and magazine articles, essays, and movies. Students should have a Japanese-English character dictionary, a basic Japanese-Japanese dictionary, and a good Japanese-English and English-Japanese dictionary.

Examinations and Assignments: Frequent assignments in reading comprehension and essay writing. Conversation project. Quizzes on vocabulary and Kanji, midterm and final examinations. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students who have not taken JAPN217 at Wesleyan will be required to take a placement test. Attendance and active participation every class and weekly TA sessions are required. |
