The primary goal of this course is to enable students to acquire Japanese language proficiency through integrating four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Lessons will cover such topics as Japanese convenience stores, history, traditional craftsmanship, and nature. The class meets three hours per week. |

Examinations and Assignments: Required work for the course includes frequent homework assignments covering grammar, Kanji, vocabulary exercises, reading comprehension, and essay writing, as well as a conversation project. In addition to weekly quizzes, there are lesson tests and a final examination. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Attendance and active participation in every class and weekly TA sessions are required. Students who have not taken JAPN217 at Wesleyan are required to take a placement test. |
