MATH121, together with MATH122, will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of limits, derivatives, and integrals; the calculus of exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse trigonometric functions; techniques of integration; plane analytic geometry; various applications of calculus; and sequences and series, including power series and intervals of convergence. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: MATH121 requires a rigorous pre-calculus background.
Students who have not studied calculus may choose to begin in MATH119 or MATH121.
Students who have previously studied calculus should choose among MATH121, MATH122, MATH221, MATH222, and MATH223. The department recommends MATH122 for an AP score of 4 or better on the AB Calculus exam and one of the 200-level courses for an AP score of 4 or better on the BC Calculus exam.
Students may not get credit for MATH121 after completing MATH119 and MATH120. A student may enroll in at most one of MATH119, MATH120 and MATH121 in the same semester.
