MATH121, together with MATH122, will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of limits, derivatives, and integrals; the calculus of exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric, and inverse trigonometric functions; techniques of integration; plane analytic geometry; various applications of calculus; and sequences and series, including power series and intervals of convergence. |

Students who have successfully completed a high school calculus course of approximately one year should choose among MATH121, MATH122, MATH221, MATH222, and MATH223. The department recommends MATH122 for an AP score of 4 or better on the AB Calculus exam and one of the 200 level courses for an AP score of 4 or better on the BC Calculus exam. Recommended preparation is high school mathematics through a semester of calculus.
Students who have not studied calculus previously should enroll in MATH119. Students may not get credit for both MATH119 and MATH121 and are encouraged to seek departmental advice about which course to take. |
