This course treats the basic aspects of differential and integral calculus of functions of several real variables, with emphasis on the development of calculational skills. The areas covered include scalar- and vector-valued functions of several variables, their derivatives, and their integrals; the nature of extremal values of such functions and methods for calculating these values; and the theorems of Green and Stokes. |

Knowledge of calculus equivalent to MATH121 and MATH122 or equivalent to achievement of 4 or 5 on the AP calculus BC exam is expected.
All sections of MATH 222 will combine asynchronous video lectures with twice-weekly tutorials for groups of 3-4 students. Most tutorials will also be held online -- a small number of tutorials for Section 01 may be held in person depending on available space and scheduling. Students should note that the tutorials are not asynchronous and they are not optional -- students will be expected to attend their assigned tutorial sessions and participate actively in tutorial discussions. |
