This course is a survey of discrete mathematical processes. Students will be introduced to the process of writing formal mathematical proofs, including mathematical induction. Topics may include set theory, logic, number theory, finite fields, permutations, elementary combinatorics, or graph theory. |

Students entering this course should have completed the equivalent of a 200-level course in mathematics OR be taking one of Math221, Math222, Math223, Comp211 or Comp212 concurrently. For any further questions about placement, students are encouraged to consult the instructor.
Section 01 will not meet on Monday, September 4th; the first class will be Wednesday, September 6th. Students in Math 228-01 will take a midterm exam 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th. |
