This topics course presents an introduction to elliptic curves. In the early part of the course, elliptic curves will be considered from several points of view (analytic, geometric, and arithmetic). Later topics will have a decided tilt towards number theory, and will include Galois representations, detection of rational points, and reduction theory. |
