Examinations and Assignments: Students will produce a significant final project in addition to weekly readings, written assignments, and a mid-term exam. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: THEME: Music, Architecture, Soundscape The goal is to develop a variety of creative tools to engage with the spatial dimension of music and sound. These tools include a functional knowledge of architectural acoustics, a working definition of the word "soundscape," and a familiarity with writings and artworks that address our theme. We will cover the acoustics of Greek theater, the relationships between church acoustics and religious beliefs, the electro-acoustics of Radio City Music Hall, and many other topics. |
