This technical and historical introduction to sound recording is designed for upper-level students in music, film, theater, dance, and art. The course covers the use of microphones, mixers, equalization, multitrack recording, and digital sequencing. Additional readings will examine the impact of recording on musical and filmic practice. Participation in the course provides students with access to the Department of Music recording facilities in the Music Studios.
Class meetings will be on Tuesdays. The class will be divided into three distinct production teams which will meet for one hour on Thursdays within the same basic time period as the Tuesday class. |
