Course Cluster: Christianity Studies |
This course will be a study of African American religious music through the medium of performance. The areas of study will consist of traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, spirituals, and hymns in the African American tradition. The members of the group will be chosen through a rigorous audition (with certain voice qualities and characteristics). |

Examinations and Assignments: Singing test; listening skills are often assessed. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: First-year students are excluded.
Only returning students may pre-register for this class. All new students must audition and be accepted as a part of the ensemble during the first class of the semester.
Participants must have a quality voice, a melodic vocal sound and the ability to read music. Students are required to perform in all performances.
Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation. |
