The Wesleyan University Orchestra performs music from all periods of music history, featuring classical repertoire alongside popular and contemporary works.
Rehearsals will combine intensive concert preparation with occasional readings of works not scheduled for performance. Open to all members of the Wesleyan and Middletown community. |

Examinations and Assignments: Weekly video/audio recorded practice assignments (to be submitted on Moodle) Weekly 1.5 hour sectional rehearsals (subject to change)
Open Halloween-themed rehearsal/short concert ¿Orchestra SpOOctacular¿ ¿ Monday, October 30th (during class). Final Concert -- Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at 8:00pm in Crowell Concert Hall. Dress rehearsal (the same day, mandatory) at 4:30pm No rehearsal on Monday, November 20th Class MEETS on Mondays November 27th and December 4th |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: In addition to Monday night rehearsals, all members of the orchestra will be required to attend weekly 1.5 hour sectional rehearsals, which will be scheduled at a time convenient for all members of a particular section.
Open Rehearsal -- ALL ARE WELCOME! Monday, September 4th, 2017, 7:10-9:40pm, Crowell Concert Hall. Call time is 7:00pm.
Repertoire for Fall 2017 (subject to change, in no particular order): Saint-Saens, Dance Macabre Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique, movement IV Bernstein, Selection from West Side Story Southard, Appalachian Symphony, Part I (commission) Dvorak, Selection from Ten Biblical Songs (Chai-lun Yueh, baritone)
This course may be repeated. Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation. |
