West African Music and Culture--Intermediate MUSC 446 Fall 2026 Section: 01   This course may be repeated for credit. This course is designed to build on the skills developed in MUSC445. The beginner repertoire is reviewed, and more demanding call-and-response patterns are learned, along with new, more challenging repertoire. Students may be asked to perform on and off campus. Through practice, students master the assignments from one lesson to the next. Assessment is based on attendance, participation in ensemble music activities and class discussions, and written assignments. Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Previous formal music instruction is not necessary. No prerequisites are required. Preference to junior and senior music majors and those enrolled in Afro-American studies and related music courses. Auditions are required. Contact the instructor for more information.
