Course Cluster: African Studies |
This course is designed to build on the skills developed in MUSC445 and MUSC446. The repertoire is brought to a performing standard, and more complex repertoire is learned. Students experience the intricacies of dance accompaniment while drumming and singing with the advanced West African dance class. The student ensemble will be asked to perform on (and possibly off) campus. |
Essential Capabilities:
Designing, Creating, and Realizing, Interpretation Intercultural literacy is promoted through a varied repertoire of recreational, ritual, warrior, funeral, and ceremonial music drawn from diverse ethnic groups of Ghana and its neighbors.

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students should pass the beginning and intermediate courses--MUSC445 and MUSC446. All MUSC 447 students are required to play for the West African Dance students. Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation. |
