PHYS112 is the 2nd in the series of two noncalculus courses covering fundamental principles of physics and is targeted specifically toward nonscience majors. By drawing on examples from everyday life, such as tasers, defibrillators, household electrical power, radar speed detectors, and lasers, PHYS112 covers the physics of electricity and magnetism, waves, sound, light and optics, as well as a brief introduction to modern physics. The emphasis will be on developing a conceptual understanding of the physical processes as well as problem solving skills. |

This course will provide students with mathematical tools and general concepts to quantitatively model everyday physical processes in the world around us.

Students planning to enter the health professions should be aware that a year of physics with laboratory is usually required for admission. The laboratory course to take to fulfill this requirement is PHYS122. Consult your academic advisor(s) if you are in doubt about similar requirements in your field. |
