Introductory Physics II

PHYS112 is the 2nd in the series of two noncalculus courses covering fundamental principles of physics and is targeted specifically toward nonscience majors. By drawing on examples from everyday life, such as tasers, defibrillators, household electrical power, radar speed detectors, and lasers, PHYS112 covers the physics of electricity and magnetism, waves, sound, light and optics, as well as a brief introduction to modern physics. The emphasis will be on developing a conceptual understanding of the physical processes as well as problem solving skills.

Essential Capabilities: Quantitative Reasoning
This course will provide students with mathematical tools and general concepts to quantitatively model everyday physical processes in the world around us.
