This course will begin with the development of the formalism of quantum mechanics in three dimensions and its application to the hydrogen atom. The quantum theory of identical particles will be developed and applied to multi-electron atoms. The remainder of the course will explore approximation methods for applying quantum mechanics to more complex systems.
