Examinations and Assignments: Quizzes, short assignments/papers, a final project and presentation. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students will explore the scientific method, the research designs psychologists most often use to test their hypotheses, and current controversies in psychological science (e.g., replication, detecting pseudoscience, ethical practices). This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to begin to evaluate, conduct, and communicate primarily quantitative research. In the service of these goals, class time will include lectures, discussions, and hands-on projects. Coursework will include experimental design, analyses, writing and presenting. Course materials will include a textbook as well as empirical articles. Intro Pyschology is a required prerequisite. A statistics course is strongly recommended and is formally a prerequisite but would be acceptable if taken concurrently. |
