The course examines research methods and techniques used in social psychology, including observation and experimentation, as well as correlational, archival, discourse, and interview techniques. Each method is analyzed in terms of underlying theory assumptions and practical implications. The course emphasizes ethical reasoning throughout the design, conduct, and reporting of research. Students are expected to undertake a research project. |

Essential Capabilities:
Designing, Creating, and Realizing
Students will learn to design, execute, and present the findings of an original social psychological research in class. Through hands-on research activities, students will come to appreciate the complexities involved in social psychological research, and ways of negotiating the seeming conflict of creating tightly controlled and impactful experimental designs that also adhere to high ethical standards.
