How do cities develop? Are there universal laws that govern city growth, or do cities develop differently within distinctive economic and political frameworks? This course addresses those questions by tracing the history of cities, comparing major theoretical approaches and addressing a number of important current issues in urban areas in the United States, including redevelopment, housing, homelessness, and the fiscal crisis of the cities. |
