An intensive introduction to the art and craft of acting through practical studio investigation. Classwork will cover the foundation elements of the actor's instrument - the voice, the body, and the imagination. We will establish and deepen our understanding of actions and objectives, subtext and inner monologue, and moment to moment attention. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: In the Spring term, preference is given to freshmen and sophomores who intend to become theater majors. This course is prerequisite for Acting II and higher-level acting courses, and for Directing I. Admission by interview/audition during preregistration. Admission to studio, performance, project and tutorial courses in theater is at the discretion of the individual faculty instructors, who take into account estimated talent, experience and the need to form balanced and effective working ensembles. |
