This course is designed to explore the actor's instrument--specifically, the vocal, physical, and imaginative tools necessary for the creative work of the actor. Students will examine the creative process practically and theoretically, through exercises, improvisation, psychophysical actions, and text work. The course explores approaches to and theories about acting that are rooted in the techniques of Konstantin Stanislavsky. |

Examinations and Assignments: Performance of in-class exercises, performance of scenes with partners, written analysis of scenes plus additional written feedback and reflection. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Auditions will take place Thursday, April 17, 4-8 pm and Saturday, Aug 30, 1-5 pm in the theater building. Please prepare a short, 1-minute monologue (memorized) from any source. Students should sign up for an audition time on the sheet posted on the bulletin board inside the entry to the building. For more information about the audition and to be notified when the auditions have been scheduled, please email either instructor directly. |
