This course is designed to give students experience in analyzing, interpreting, and researching performances in preparation for writing dramatic criticism suitable for publication in newspapers, magazines, journals, blogs, and dramaturgical portions of theater programs. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: The course involves weekly assignments in which students will write critical reviews, artist profiles, and dramaturgical essays based on live and taped theater performances. The group will discuss selected readings in dramatic criticism. Students will be expected to attend evening performances outside of class. Student writings and the performances on which they are based will be discussed in class. Each student will prepare a portfolio of their writings for evaluation at the end of the semester. |
