This course will introduce the concepts and methods used in the analysis of quantitative data in the behavioral and life sciences. The approach will emphasize activity-based learning. Lectures will be used for the initial presentation and wrap-up of topics, but most class time will be devoted to activities in which students perform analyses. The topics covered will include descriptive statistics, sampling distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, and regression. |

Problem sets, lab reports, tests; for lab reports, we will use SPSS software remotely available to students through MyApps. YOU NEED TO HAVE A LAPTOP COMPUTER THAT YOU CAN BRING TO CLASS to take this section of the class.

The course is only offered in graded mode (as this is requirement for PSYC and NS&B). All sections of this course will satisfy the statistics requirement for the PSYC major and the methodological requirement for the NS&B major. Students not admitted during preregistration or adjustment will be admitted on the first day of class if seats become available (i.e., the class cannot exceed the 19-student limit). In this case, priority will be given to sophomores on the electronic enrollment request list who have previously unsuccessfully requested the course. |
