This performance course is designed for students who can already play the guitar and read music to some extent. The lectures will involve finger-style playing with the classical guitar as the main instrument, however, the repertoire will include music from South America and various world cultures as well as American popular styles. Students playing other instruments such as flute or violin are welcome take the class to form ensembles with the guitar. In a final concert, the students will perform works matching their technical level. |

Examinations and Assignments: This course is designed for instrumentalists and singers who wish to gain experience in small ensemble performance. Duos and trios will typically be formed from the enrollment. The final concert may draw upon support from members of the Wesleyan Consort.
Students may pre-register for this course, but you must contact the instructor to discuss your interest and background to be admitted. Students who do not pre-register should attend the first class for admittance. A classical guitar for each guitar student is required.
Attendance mandatory. Undergraduates may take this course up to two times for a letter grade and up to four times for credit towards graduation. |
