An interdisciplinary introduction to the positive and normative aspects of economics. Topics include markets as a means of coordinating human behavior toward the achievement of specific social objectives, how and why markets may fail to achieve these objectives, the evolution of nonmarket institutions such as rules of law as responses to market failures, and theories of unemployment and inflation in their historical context.
