Major Readings: Wesleyan RJ Julia Bookstore
Students must provide copies of their own stories to their classmates at least a week in advance of the discussion of them. There will be a variety of texts by published authors of fiction as well.

Examinations and Assignments:
Several short exercises, three short stories, one revision, and two short craft papers; portfolio of all written work at the end of the semester. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Students are also required to attend 3 events per semester with visiting writers (these are scheduled on Wednesday afternoons and evenings; Q & A sessons at 4:15 and readings at 8:00 pm). Enrolled students must adjust their schedules accordingly. To apply to this course, please submit 5 double-spaced pages of prose (preferably fiction). Please also submit a cover page in two sections: 1) your name, email address, year in school, major (if any), some of your favorite writers and any other influences; 2) a short biographical statement (a paragrpah) describing your history with and interest in fiction writing, or other creative writing background. The application deadline is 5 pm on November 4th. Please submit your materials electronically in a single attachment to damartin@wesleyan.edu. Please use either Microsfot Word or rich-text-format for your attachment. You will be notified electronically if you have been admitted (or not) to the course. Students may not take this course and another creative wriitng workshop concurrently.
