This course in short fiction is for people who have already had an introduction to fictional technique and, preferably, an additional course in creative writing. Students will generate and engage in their own writing projects. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Meetings with and readings by visiting writers will be an additional element of the course. The application deadline is Monday, November 11th at 4:00 PM. Application Process: (1) Go to the Creative Writing page of the English Department website at: https://www.wesleyan.edu/english/Writing%20.html, click on the Google Form link and complete the online application. (2) At the bottom of the form please upload the following in one document: a) 2-5 double-spaced pages of fiction. b) a cover page that includes the following: your name, email address, year in school, major (if any); the number of this course; some of your favorite writers and any other influences; a short biographical statement (a paragraph) describing your creative writing background. c) list the creative writing course(s) you have taken previous to this one. Please use either Microsoft Word or rich text format for your attachment, with the file name: "Last Name-First Initial-Course Number" (e.g. Smith-J-ENGL342.docx). You will be notified electronically of the status of your application by the end of the Planning Period. This course contributes to the English major Theory and Literary Forms and Creative Writing concentrations. |
