Fiction by authors such as, Angela Carter, Jorge Luis Borges, Lydia Davis, Amy Hempel, Denis Johnson, William Faulkner, Mary Gaitskill, Jhumpa Lahiri, Toni Cade Bambara, Franz Kafka, Yasunari Kawabata, Roberto BolaƱo, Jamaica Kincaid, and others.

Examinations and Assignments: Responses to assigned readings, occasional exercises, two short stories, one revision, and a final portfolio. Attendance at every class required. There is a workshop component to this course so participating in class discussions is essential. |
