Examinations and Assignments: Four short exercises in various elements of fiction, two short stories, one revision, and two short craft papers. Attendance at every class required. There is a workshop component to this course so participating in class discussions is essential. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students are also required to attend 2-3 events per semester with visiting writers (these are scheduled on Wednesday afternoons and evenings; Q & A sessions at 4:15 and readings at 8:00 p.m.). Enrolled students must adjust their schedules accordingly. Students may not take this course and a creative writing workshop concurrently.
This course contributes to the Theory & Literary Forms and Creative Writing concentrations of the English major. |

Examinations and Assignments: Students will participate in weekly in-class freewriting prompts, write at least six 2-3 page papers, along with submitting one 7 to 10 page short story. A final portfolio collecting the student¿s entire written output will be due at semester's end. |
