This course examines choreography and its performance as an embodied text. Students will research a theme-specific topic and participate in the creation of a contemporary work under the direction, guidance and mentorship of a faculty choreographer. This class will serve as a laboratory for experimenting with the performance techniques, and evolving methodologies of the teaching artist, preparing the student for the practice of embodied research. This class will meet for a five-hour block on four separate Sundays, plus weekly communication and assignments via Blackboard interaction. Classes will be held Sundays, from 2:00-7:00pm, on 9/18, 10/9, 11/13, and 12/11 (four Sundays) plus a five-day intensive between 1/19 and 1/23 in preparation for performance. |
